At Saint Patrick's, we believe parents are called to raise their children to be fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. We also believe that children can meet with God through age-appropriate, guided worship. To create sacred space in which children can worship God and to support parents of preschool and early elementary aged children (3 years through 4th grade), we offer Children's Church.
Before the sermon, these children are welcomed to the front of the sanctuary, prayed for by our pastor, then dismissed to be escorted from the worship service to the Children's Church room by their worship leader and helper for a time of worship and Bible study. The children are brought back from Children's Church by their worship leader and helper in time rejoin their parents during Holy Communion. Baptized children are free to receive Holy Communion at the discretion of their parents.
Our ministry utilizes the excellent children's program entitled Godly Play. Godly Play is a story-based curriculum that brings the children to a place of worship and reflection on the stories of the Bible. Each year the children walk through the central stories of the Bible following the pattern of the Christian year. The goal is to embed in their hearts and minds these stories to help them see Jesus, trust him as Savior and follow him as Lord.
As required by our denomination and diocese, all children’s volunteers at Saint Patrick’s Church submit to a background check and go through Ministry Safe training – a national child safety ministry endorsed and required by the Anglican Church in North America.
